Inquiry into disability services amendment (improved quality assurance) Bill 2001

The above Bill lapsed at the time Parliament was prorogued. A new Bill - Disability Services Amendment (Improved Quality Assurance) Bill 2002, which includes some changes to the 2001 Bill, was introduced into the Senate on 13 February 2002. One issue discussed at length during the Committee hearing was included in the new Bill. Item 47 provides for key performance indicators approved by the Minister to be disallowable instruments. The 2002 Bill passed both Houses of Parliament and received Royal Assent on 5 April 2002 as Act No. 28, 2002.

On 14 February 2002 the Committee tabled in the Senate the Hansard transcript of evidence from the public hearing held on 25 September 2001 and submissions received in relation to the 2001 Bill.
