2015 My First Speech

Imagine yourself as a newly elected Member of the House of Representatives. Write a 3 minute speech about an issue or issues you are passionate about and film yourself giving that speech. As a community representative, it could be about issues that are important to the people of your electorate or something you would like to communicate to the federal Parliament and to the people of Australia.

High school students are again being invited to put their views to the House of Representatives as part of this year’s My First Speech Competition. The nationwide competition is now open to all Australian secondary students enrolled in years 10 to 12.

First, second and third place winners will be flown to Canberra with a parent or guardian to present their speech live at Parliament House.

See information about the competition under the How to Enter tab and get inspired to start writing now! Check out the 2014 winners and finalists below.
