2024 My First Speech Competition finalists announced

Congratulations to all the 2024 finalists.

While the judges aim to choose 5 finlalists in each year group, this year some entries in our year 10 and 11 groups were too close to call.

Please see the the names below of the 5 finalists for year 12 and 7 finalists for year 10 and 11. You can also click on the heading for each year group to see the YouTube playlist of their speeches.

What happens next?

The judges will annouce the winners of this year competition durring the next sitting week (9 to 12 September). Keep an eye on this page to see that annoucement. All the finalists will recieve a certificate signed by the Speaker and their local member. The winning students will then be invited along with a parent or guardian to join us here at Parliament House in Canberra on 5 & 6 November this year. The students will meet members of  parliament and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Hon Milton Dick MP along with others. They will also be invited to give their speech at a live event at Parliament House which will be streamed on our Facebook page for family, friends and teachers to watch.

All of the entries to this years competition will be given to local members, this helps them to know what is important to students in their electorates.

Good luck to all of our finalists.
