Statements by the President or Chair of Committees

During the course of a sitting day, the President may inform the chamber of a decision or address concerns raised in previous debates.

The Chair of Committees may make a statement during the committee of the whole debate on a bill relating to orders of the Senate concerning the passage of legislation. These statements are usually to advise of the outcome of certain divisions where the votes are equally divided.
