  to: clarify that a student cannot apply for assistance under the Student Financial Supplement Scheme (SFSS) after the commencement of this proposed Act; align the SFSS repayment thresholds and indexation with the Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP); and apply the definition of taxable income used under the HELP arrangements to the SFSS. Also makes a minor technical amendment to the
Student Assistance Act 1973
  and consequential amendments to the
Taxation Administration Act 1953
