Department of the Senate

The Senate department provides secretariat support for the Senate and its committees, and advice and support to enable senators and others to participate in their meetings. Its work is substantially driven by the requirements of the Senate and senators.

House of Representatives

The Department of the House of Representatives provides services to support the efficient conduct of the House of Representatives, its committees and certain joint committees as well as a range of services and facilities for members in Parliament House.

Department of Parliamentary Services

The Department of Parliamentary Services provides a range of services and facilities to ensure Parliament functions effectively. These include research, library services, television and radio broadcasting, Hansard transcripts, central computing facilities and services, telecommunications and all aspects of the maintenance and security of the building and precincts.

Parliamentary Budget Office

The Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) enriches Australia's democracy through independent budget and fiscal analysis. We inform parliament by providing policy proposals and analysis of the budget and enhancing public understanding of budget and fiscal policy settings.

Parliament of Australia graduate program

This program is designed to expose graduates to the parliamentary departments’ work in supporting the Parliament. Placements are open to graduates who have been accepted into, are in, or have recently completed an existing Australian Government department or agency graduate program.
