How to Apply
Thank you for considering a position with the Department of Parliamentary Services. You should begin by downloading the relevant information pack for the position you wish to apply for. This is available in the table below. The pack includes further detail on how to apply, the duty statement and the selection documentation. If you require specific information or clarification about the job, please speak with the contact officer.
Your application must include:
- the completed DPS Job application cover sheet;
- your current Curriculum Vitae (CV); and
- your statement of claims against each of the listed selection criteria
Your updated CV and your statement of claims against each of the selection criteria will assist the selection advisory committee to assess your suitability for the position. It is important that you provide sufficient evidence in your application to support your claims against the criteria.
The STAR model can help you to form your answer when addressing the selection criteria. Identify one or two examples from your experience or skills that are relevant to each of the specific and general criteria and provide the information by using the STAR principle:
- Situation: provide a brief outline of the situation
- Task: give an overview of what you did
- Action: outline how you did it
- Result: what was the outcome

The Selection Process
DPS fills all vacancies based on the “merit principle” as defined under the Parliamentary Service Act 1999.
If you are selected for interview, you will be asked to provide more information at interview about how your experience and skills qualify you for the position.
If you are not selected for interview, we will write to you to advise of this.
