Inquiry into Constitutional Reform

On 20 March 2008 the Standing Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs resolved to inquire into and report on Constitutional reform. The Committee hosted a roundtable seminar on 1 May 2008 with experts exploring current debates surrounding key areas including:

the process for amending the constitution

• federal-state relations
• citizenship
• election terms and
• the inclusion of a preamble.
