- Amends the:
Social Security Act 1991 to: enable a person who qualifies for a carer payment to automatically qualify for a carer allowance; provide that the qualification criteria and assessment process for carer payments for care provided to children with a disability or medical condition will be based on the level of care required; and allow a person to qualify or remain qualified for a carer payment while a child care receiver is in hospital for an unlimited number of days per calendar year; and
Social Security (Administration) Act 1999 to make consequential changes to the administrative structure for the carer allowance.
