Summary
Revises Australia’s counter-terrorism framework by amending the: Crimes Act 1914 to: extend fixed investigation periods for investigations into suspected terrorism offences; and permit law enforcement agencies to suspend or delay questioning a suspect to make overseas inquiries; Crimes (Foreign Incursions and Recruitment) Act 1978 in relation to foreign incursions offences; Criminal Code Act 1995 in relation to: terrorist organisation membership offences; and offences of providing training to or receiving training from a terrorist organisation; and Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 in relation to commercial exploitation by persons who have committed foreign indictable offences.
