A bill is a proposal for a law or a change to an existing law. A bill becomes law (an Act) when agreed to in identical form by both houses of Parliament and assented to by the Governor-General.
Bills introduced to Parliament are scrutinised to make sure they meet certain standards and to consider whether they should be referred to a committee for further investigation. This can include feedback from stakeholders and the general public, and a report recommending potential improvements to the bill.

to: extend, until 30 June 2006, the existing arrangements for approving pharmacists to supply medicines subsidised under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme; clarify that dependants of contributors to a health benefits fund with appropriate cover, as well as the contributors, are covered by the fund; Health Insurance Act 1973
to: clarify the scope of the power to make Medicare Tables; and enable the Minister to make legislative instruments determining that Medicare benefits are not payable for professional services in specified circumstances; and Medical Indemnity Act 2002
to replace references to the Health Insurance Commission with references to the Chief Executive Officer of Medicare Australia.
