Treaties tabled on 12 March and 14 May 2013

1.1                   On 12 March 2013, the Agreement between the Government of Australia and the Government of Solomon Islands relating to Air Services (Canberra, 21 August 2012); the Agreement between the Government of Australia and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines relating to Air Services (Canberra, 24 October 2012); and the Agreement between the Government of Australia and the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium relating to Air Services (Canberra, 23 November 2012) were tabled in the Commonwealth Parliament.

1.2                   On 14 May 2013, the Agreement between the Government of Australia and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia relating to Air Services (Canberra, 7 February 2013) was tabled in the Commonwealth Parliament.

1.3                   Air Service Agreements provide for the operation of commercial scheduled air services between the countries Party to the Agreement.[1]

1.4                   The Committee has considered and supports the set of Agreements and recommends that binding treaty action be taken.

1.5                   In order to facilitate the timely implementation of the Agreements, the Committee resolved to report its recommendations to the Parliament immediately.

 

Recommendation 1

 

The Treaties Committee supports the Agreement between the Government of Australia and the Government of Solomon Islands relating to Air Services (Canberra, 21 August 2012) and recommends that binding treaty action be taken.

 

Recommendation 2

 

The Treaties Committee supports the Agreement between the Government of Australia and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines relating to Air Services (Canberra, 24 October 2012) and recommends that binding treaty action be taken.

 

Recommendation 3

 

The Treaties Committee supports the Agreement between the Government of Australia and the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium relating to Air Services (Canberra, 23 November 2012) and recommends that binding treaty action be taken.

 

Recommendation 4

 

The Treaties Committee supports the Agreement between the Government of Australia and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia relating to Air Services (Canberra, 7 February 2013) and recommends that binding treaty action be taken.
