Opened on 9 May 1988 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Parliament House was designed by Romaldo Giurgola of Mitchell/Giurgola and Thorp architects and constructed almost entirely of Australian materials.
Thirty-three hectares of landscaped grounds, sweeping lawns and intimate courtyards make up the Parliamentary Precincts.
