Dear Mr President,

On 11 September 2019, the Senate moved that the following matter be referred to the Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References Committee for inquiry and report by April 2020. On 13 November 2019, the Senate agreed to extend the reporting date to 14 October 2020. On 30 September 2020, the Senate granted a further extension of time to report until 11 February 2021. On 5 February 2021, the Senate granted a further extension of time to report until 23 June 2021. On 22 June 2021, the Senate granted a further extension of time to report until 8 July 2021. 

The Committee requests an extension of time to report until 25 August to allow it to consider the evidence received and to conclude its deliberations.
