Inquiry into the Water Amendment Bill 2008
Information about the Inquiry
The Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Standing Committee
is inquiring into the provisions of the Water Amendment Bill 2008. The
bill amends the Water Act 2007 to make changes to the cooperative water
planning, management and regulatory regime in the Murray Darling Basin. In
particular, the bill reflects agreement by the relevant States and the ACT
to refer constitutional powers to the Commonwealth.
Submissions should be lodged by 7 November 2008. If you are unable to make
a submission by this date please telephone the committee secretariat on
(02) 6277 3511 or email rrat.sen@aph.gov.au. The Committee is due to report by
19 November 2008 and proposes to hold hearings on 12 and 13 November 2008.
