Australia’s engagement in Afghanistan

On 26 August 2021, the Senate referred Australia’s engagement in Afghanistan to the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade References Committee (the Committee). The Committee presented an interim report on 21 January 2021.

To date the committee has received 79 submissions and conducted four public hearings on 11 October, 8 and 15 November 2021 and 2 February 2022.

The committee requests an extension of time for the final report until 5 April 2022 to allow it to consider the evidence received and conclude its deliberations.
