Information about the Inquiry

On 21 March 2013 the Senate referred the Student Identifiers Bill 2013 for inquiry and report.

The Student Identifiers Bill 2013 would provide for the introduction of a student identifier for individuals undertaking nationally recognised vocational education and training (VET) from 1 January 2014, including how the identifier would be assigned, collected, used and disclosed. The Bill would provide for the creation of an authenticated transcript of an individual's record of nationally recognised training undertaken or completed after 1 January 2014, establish a Student Identifiers Agency to administer the student identifier scheme, and provide for the appointment of a CEO.

Submissions should be received by 30 April 2013. The reporting date is 18 June 2013.

The Committee is seeking written submissions from interested individuals and organisations preferably in electronic form submitted online or sent by email to eewr.sen@aph.gov.au as an attached Adobe PDF or MS Word format document. The email must include full postal address and contact details.
