About this committee

The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security is constituted under section 28 of
the Intelligence Services Act 2001.

The Committee conducts inquiries into matters referred to it by the Senate or the House of Representatives or a Minister of the Commonwealth Government.

The Committee also has certain review functions under the Intelligence Services Act 2001.
