Roundtable on Citizenship and the Constitution

On 20 March 2015, the Social Policy and Legal Affairs Committee hosted its third Constitutional Roundtable.

The topic for the Roundtable was Citizenship and the Constitution, and comprised three sessions:

  1. High Court decisions and their impact on the understanding on citizenship;
  2. Rights and responsibilities of citizenship under the Constitution; and
  3. The Australian Constitution and citizenship in the twenty first century.

Video Questions

As part of the roundtable, the Committee invited members of the public to contribute to the discussion by submitting video questions to the panel.

A selection of questions were used during the third session to stimulate discussion. Individuals were invited to frame their questions around the theme of the third session: the Australian Constitution and citizenship in the twenty first century.
