The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Indigenous Affairs will inquire into and report on best practice Indigenous engagement by corporations and how Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) can help improve corporate behaviour.
Many Indigenous consumers, especially in more remote communities, face unique barriers such as speaking English as a second or third language. This can have ongoing impacts to the consumer, such as difficulties understanding written contracts and potential financial infringements.
Corporate sector organisations who hold RAPs as well as those that don't, should have a deep understanding of their consumer and the bairiers they can face and a willingness to address them through tangible and sustainable means.
The Committee invites submissions addressing any or all of the terms of reference for the inquiry by Thursday, 9 December 2021.
The Committee will present its final report by 31 March 2022.
