The committee has the power, under Standing Order 215(c), to inquire into the annual reports of departments and authorities within its areas of responsibility, as set out in the schedule presented by the Speaker.

The Standing Committee on Economics, which can inquire into and report on any annual reports referred to it by the House of Representatives, has agreed to undertake an inquiry into the Review of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority Annual Report 2021.
