Meetings during Senate sittings

The Senate authorised the Treaties Joint Committee to hold a private meeting from 8pm.

The Senate authorised the Finance and Public Administration Committee to hold public meetings:

  • On 11 October 2006 from 4pm to 6pm–operation of the Senate order for the production of lists of departmental and agency contracts
  • On 12 October 2006 from 3.30pm to 7pm–transparency and accountability of Commonwealth public funding and expenditure

Notices of motion were given to authorise committees to hold public meetings as follows:

  • Electoral Matters Joint Committee – 19 October 2006 from 9.30 am to 10.30 am – civics and electoral education
  • Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Committee–12 October 2006 from 4.30pm to 6pm , and 18 October 2006 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm–water policy initiatives

Reporting date extended

The Senate extended the reporting date for the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee inquiry into the Defence Legislation Amendment Bill 2006 to 12 October 2006.
