An agenda for each of the legislation committees listed below is available on the Senate webpage and will be updated as necessary.

The Senate Daily Summary will be published each day after the legislation committees meet. The Summary will give a brief overview on the progress made by each committee and the business each committee expects to consider to the next day.

Community Affairs Legislation Committee
Portfolios allocated: Family, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs; Health and Ageing

The committee:

  • commenced the Family, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs portfolio (completed outcome 3 and outputs 4.1, 4.3 and 4.4)
  • will continue the Family, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs portfolio (outcomes 1 and 2 and output 4.2) when it meets on Tuesday 30 May 2006 in Senate Committee Room 2S1

Economics Legislation Committee
Portfolios allocated: Industry, Tourism and Resources; Treasury

The committee:

  • completed the Industry, Tourism and Resources portfolio 
  • will commence the Treasury portfolio (Treasury, Australian Taxation Office, Inspector-General of Taxation, Australian Office of Financial Management, National Competition Council, and the Takeovers Panel) when it meets on Tuesday 30 May 2006 in House of Representatives Committee Room 2R1

Employment, Workplace Relations and Education Legislation Committee
Portfolios allocated: Education, Science and Training; Employment and Workplace Relations

The committee:

  • commenced the Employment and Workplace Relations portfolio (completed outcome 1)
  • will continue the Employment and Workplace Relations portfolio (cross portfolio and outcomes 1 to 3) when it meets on Tuesday 30 May 2006 in Senate Committee Room 2S3

Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Legislation Committee
Portfolios allocated: Defence (including Veterans’ Affairs); Foreign Affairs and Trade

The committee:

  • commenced the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio (completed portfolio overview, outputs 1.2 and 2.1 and enabling services and commenced output 1.1)
  • will continue the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio (remainder of output 1.1, AusAID, and the Australian Trade Commission) when in meets on Tuesday 30 May 2006 in the Main Committee Room
