General information about the consideration of the 2005-06 additional estimates (membership of committees, portfolio allocation, terms of reference etc.) is available on the Senate web page.

An agenda for each of the legislation committees listed below is available on the Senate webpage and will be updated as necessary.

The Senate Daily Summary will be published each day after the legislation committees meet. The Summary will give a brief overview on the progress made by each committee and the business each committee expects to consider the next day.

Community Affairs Legislation Committee
Portfolios allocated:
Family, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs; Health and Ageing

For current information about the committee’s hearings

The committee met from 9.05am until 11.00pm.

The committee:

  • completed the Family, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs portfolio
  • will commence the Health and Ageing portfolio when it meets on Thursday 16 February 2006 in Senate Committee Room 2S1

Economics Legislation Committee
Portfolios allocated:
Industry, Tourism and Resources; Treasury

For current information about the committee’s hearings

The committee met from 9.05am until 10.50pm.

The committee:

  • commenced the Treasury portfolio (completed outcomes 1 to 3 of the department, Australian Taxation Office, and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission)
  • will continue the Treasury portfolio (Australian Securities and Investment Commission and Australian Prudential Regulation Authority) and
  • will commence the Industry, Tourism and Resources portfolio when it meets on Thursday 16 February 2006 in House of Representatives Committee Room 2R1

Employment, Workplace Relations and Education Legislation Committee
Portfolios allocated:
Education, Science and Training; Employment and Workplace Relations

For current information about the committee’s hearings

The committee met from 9.08am until 11.00pm.

The committee:

  • completed the Education, Science and Training portfolio
  • will commence the Employment and Workplace Relations portfolio when it meets on Thursday 16 February 2006 in Senate Committee Room 2S3

Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Legislation Committee
Portfolios allocated:
Defence (including Veterans’ Affairs); Foreign Affairs and Trade

The committee met from 9.00am until 11.10pm.

The committee:

  • completed the Defence portfolio (including the Department of Veterans’ Affairs)
  • will commence the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio when it meets on Thursday 16 February 2006 in the Main Committee Room
