General information about the consideration of the 2005-06 additional estimates (membership of committees, portfolio allocation, terms of reference etc.) is available on the Senate web page.

An agenda for each of the legislation committees listed below is available on the Senate webpage and will be updated as necessary.

The Senate Daily Summary will be published each day after the legislation committees meet. The Summary will give a brief overview on the progress made by each committee and the business each committee expects to consider the next day.

Environment, Communications, Information Technology and the Arts Legislation Committee
Portfolios allocated:
Communications, Information Technology and the Arts; Environment and Heritage

For current information about the committee’s hearings

The committee met from 9.07am until 11.25pm.

The committee completed:

  • the Communications, Information Technology and the Arts portfolio
  • the Environment and Heritage portfolio and
  • additional estimates consideration

Finance and Public Administration Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Finance and Administration; Parliament; Prime Minister and Cabinet

The committee met from 9.04am until 10.59pm.

The committee completed:

  • the Finance and Administration portfolio
  • additional estimates consideration

Legal and Constitutional Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Attorney-General; Immigration and Multicultural Affairs

The committee met from 9.05am until 11.07pm.

The committee:

  • commenced the Attorney-General’s portfolio
  • will continue the Attorney-General’s portfolio (Director of Public Prosecutions, Australian Cus toms Service, and Australian Federal Police) when it meets on Friday 17 February 2006

Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport
Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; Transport and Regional Services

The committee met from 9.00am until 10.50pm.

The committee:

  • completed the Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry portfolio
  • will continue the Transport and Regional Services portfolio (Airservices Australia, Regional Services, Territories and Local Government, and National Capital Authority) when it meets on Friday 17 February 2006
