Seven legislation committees have completed consideration of the 2005-06 additional estimates. The Legal and Constitutional Committee will meet on 27 February 2006 to complete its consideration. The Senate will meet again on 27 February 2006 .

The Senate Daily Summary will be published each day after the legislation committees meet. The Summary will give a brief overview on the progress made by each committee and the business each committee expects to consider the next day.

Legal and Constitutional Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Attorney-General; Immigration and Multicultural Affairs

For current information about the committee’s hearings

The committee met from 9.05am until 2.17pm.

The committee:

  • continued the Attorney-General’s portfolio (completed Australian Customs Service and Australian Federal Police)
  • will continue the Attorney-General’s portfolio (Director of Public Prosecutions) when it meets on 27 February 2006 at 8.30pm.

Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; Transport and Regional Services

The committee met from 8.30am until 1.30pm.

The committee completed:

  • the Transport and Regional Services portfolio
  • additional estimates consideration
