Changes to days and hours of meeting

The Senate agreed to a motion moved by the Minister for Fisheries, Forestry and Conservation ( Senator Abetz ) to vary the days and hours of meeting for the remainder of the Winter sittings to allow the Government’s legislative program to be considered.

Notice of intention to withdraw notices

Senator Siewert gave notice of her intention to withdraw a notice to disallow an instrument that determines the total allowable catch for the 2007 fishing year in the Southern and Eastern Scalefish and Shark Fishery.

The Senate referred matters relating to cost of living pressures on older Australians to the Community Affairs Committee for report by 13 September 2007.

Public meetings

The Senate authorised various committees to hold public meetings while the Senate is sitting. [See Journals entries nos 5 and 14]

Notice of motion given

A notice of motion was given to refer the Wheat Marketing Amendment Bill 2007 to the Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Committee for report by 7 August 2007.

Membership

The Senate appointed Senator Boyce as a participating member of the Economics Committee and the Employment, Workplace Relations and Education Committee.
