The Chair of the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances gave a notice of motion to disallow regulations correcting an anomaly in the operation of exemptions in the Radiocommunications Taxes Collection Regulations.

Proposed reference

The Senate did not agree to refer matters relating to the Australia-Russia Nuclear Cooperation Agreement to the Treaties Joint Committee.

The Senate authorised the following public meetings to be held while the Senate is sitting:

  • Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee 13 September 2007 from 4pm Australia's involvement in international peacekeeping operations
  • Public Works Joint Committee 13 September 2007 from 9.30 am to 11.45 am refurbishment of staff apartments at the Australian embassy complex in Tokyo, Japan

Notice of motion given

A notice of motion was given to extend the reporting deadline of the Community Affairs Committee for its inquiry into the cost of living pressures on older Australians to the last sitting day in March 2008.
