The Senate agreed to a motion moved by the Minister for Fisheries, Forestry and Conservation (Senator Abetz) to vary the hours of meeting for 13 to 16 August 2007 to allow the Governments' legislative program to be considered.

Notice of motion withdrawn

The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances withdrew a notice to disallow regulations to amend the Australian Federal Police Regulations 1979 to prescribe matters related to the suspension of AFP appointees from their duties and matters related to drug testing.

Public meeting

The Senate authorised the Australian Crime Commission Joint Committee to hold a public meeting while the Senate is sitting on 13 August 2007 from 5.30 pm for the committee's inquiry into the future impact of serious and organised crime on Australian society.

Notice of motion given

A notice of motion was given to authorise the Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Committee to hold a meeting while the Senate is sitting on 15 August 2007 from 3.30pm to allow officers of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Biosecurity Australia and Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service to provide a briefing to the committee.
