The Senate Daily Summary will be published each day after the legislation committees meet. The Summary will give a brief overview on the progress made by each committee and the business each committee expects to consider the next day.


Community Affairs Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Family and Community Services; Health and Ageing

The committee met from 9.05am until 10.25pm.

The committee completed:

Economics Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Industry, Tourism and Resources; Treasury

The committee met from 9.00am until 11.00pm.

The committee completed:

  • the Treasury portfolio
  • additional estimates consideration

Employment, Workplace Relations and Education Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Education, Science and Training; Employment and Workplace Relations

The committee met from 9.05am until 10.35pm.

The committee completed:

  •    the Employment and Workplace Relations portfolio
  •    additional estimates consideration

Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Defence (including Veterans’ Affairs); Foreign Affairs and Trade

For current information about the committee’s hearings

The committee met from 9.00am until 7.00pm.

The committee:

  • commenced the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio (commenced the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and completed the Australian Agency for International Development and Australian Trade Commission)
  • will continue the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio (portfolio overview and major corporate issues, business processes, coordination and public affairs, people, and defence personnel) when it meets on Friday 18 February 2005 in the Main Committee Room
