2010-11 Budget estimates

Environment, Communications and the Arts Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Broadband, Communications, and the Digital Economy; Climate Change and Energy Efficiency; Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts
For current information about the committee’s hearings

The committee met from 9.00 am until 9.02 pm.

The committee called the department and agencies of the Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy portfolio, including Australia Post, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the Special Broadcasting Service and the Australian Communications and Media Authority.
The committee will next meet on Tuesday, 25 May 2010 in Senate Committee Room 2S3:

  • again calling the Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy portfolio, commencing with the National Broadband Network Co. Ltd; and
  • the department and agencies of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts portfolio, commencing with the Australian National Maritime Museum.

Finance and Public Administration Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Finance and Deregulation; Human Services; Parliament; Prime Minister and Cabinet

The committee met from 9.00 am until 9.35 pm.

The committee called the department of the Senate, the Department of Parliamentary Services, and the department and agencies of the Prime Minister and Cabinet portfolio, including the Office of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General, the Australian Institute of Family Studies, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, Old Parliament House, the Australian Public Service Commission, the Office of the Commonwealth Ombudsman, the Office of the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security and the Office of National Assessments.

The committee will next meet on Tuesday, 25 May 2010 in Senate Committee Room 2S1, again calling the department and agencies of the Prime Minister and Cabinet portfolio, commencing with the Australian National Audit Office.

Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Attorney-General; Immigration and Citizenship

The committee met from 9.04 am until 11.00 pm.

The committee called the department and agencies of the Attorney-General’s portfolio, including the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, the Australian Human Rights Commission, the Australian Law Reform Commission, the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre, the Classification Board, the Classification Review Board, the High Court of Australia, the Family Court of Australia, the Federal Magistrates Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia, the National Native Title Tribunal and the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation.

The committee will next meet on Tuesday, 25 May 2010 in the Main Committee Room, again calling the department and agencies of the Attorney-General’s portfolio, commencing with the Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity.

Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government

The committee met from 9.00 am until 10.55 pm.

The committee called the department and agencies of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry portfolio, including the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics, the Bureau of Rural Sciences, the Australian Fisheries Management Authority and the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority.
The committee will next meet on Tuesday, 25 May 2010 in House of Representatives Committee Room 2R1, again calling the Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry portfolio, commencing with the department.
