The Senate Daily Summary will be published each day after the legislation committees meet. The Summary will give a brief overview on the progress made by each committee and the business each committee expects to consider to the next day.

Environment, Communications, Information Technology and the Arts Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Communications, Information Technology and the Arts; Environment and Heritage

For current information about the committee’s hearings

The committee met from 9.02am until 11.00pm.

The committee:

  • commenced the Communications, Information Technology and the Arts portfolio (completed outputs 3.2-3.5: Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Special Broadcasting Service, Australian Broadcasting Authority, and Corporate Services)
  • will continue the Communications, Information Technology and the Arts portfolio (output 3.1: Australia Post, Telstra, and Australian Communications Authority) when it meets on Tuesday 24 May 2005 in Senate Committee Room 2S3

Finance and Public Administration Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Finance and Administration; Parliament; Prime Minister and Cabinet

The committee met from 9.05am until 10.59pm.

The committee:

  • completed Parliament
  • commenced the Prime Minister and Cabinet portfolio (general questions)
  • will continue the Prime Minister and Cabinet portfolio (general questions, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Office of National Assessments, Office of the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security, Australian National Audit Office, Australian Public Service Commission, Office of the Commonwealth Ombudsman, and  National Water Commission) when it meets on Tuesday 24 May 2005 in Senate Committee Room 2S1

Legal and Constitutional Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Attorney-General; Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs

The committee met from 9.03am until 10.43pm.

The committee:

  • commenced the Attorney-General’s portfolio (completed Attorney-General’s Department, and National Native Title Tribunal)

Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee

Portfolios allocated: Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; Transport and Regional Services
