  • Minister for Finance (Senator Cormann) tabled the Budget statement and associated documents
  • The Senate referred the budget documents to legislation committees for consideration during estimates hearings from 22 May to 2 June 2017
  • Portfolio budget statements for the parliamentary departments, and portfolio and executive departments were tabled

  • Party leaders and independent senators made statements in reply to the2017-18 budget

 Tuesday, 9 May

  •  Lucy Gichuhi was sworn in as a Senator for South Australia
      Watch the proceedings
  • Senator Gichuhi advised the Senate that she will sit as an independent senator
  • The President tabled orders from the Court of Disputed Returns relating to a vacancy in the representation of South Australia (Documents: one, two, three)
