Income Tax Rates Act 1986
to reduce the first income tax marginal rate to 15 per cent for the 2026-27 financial year and to 14 per cent for the 2027-28 and later financial years; and A New Tax System (Medicare Levy Surcharge—Fringe Benefits) Act 1999
and Medicare Levy Act 1986
to: increase the Medicare levy and Medicare levy surcharge low-income threshold amounts for individuals, families and individual taxpayers and families eligible for the seniors and pensioners tax offset; and increase the phase-in limits as a result of the increased threshold amounts.

to replace the Child Care Subsidy activity test with a guaranteed minimum of 72 hours per fortnight of subsidised early childhood education and care for all families, regardless of the time spent on recognised participation types, and a guaranteed 100 hour entitlement per fortnight for parents caring for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander child.

Bills and committees
The House of Representatives Selection Committee and the Senate Selection of Bills Committee routinely consider whether bills should be referred to committees for inquiry and report. The House Committee reports its determinations to the chamber, while the Senate Committee makes recommendations which the Senate may then adopt. Bills may also be referred to committees by either chamber or by the relevant minister to House and joint committees.
