Part of a package of three bills to enable the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) to recover the costs of delivering services under the National System for Domestic Commercial Vessel Safety, the bill amends the:
Australian Maritime Safety Authority Act 1990 to enable the payment of the amount of the domestic commercial vessel levy to the AMSA;
Marine Navigation (Regulatory Functions) Levy Collection Act 1991 to clarify that leviable domestic commercial vessels are exempt from the Marine Navigation (Regulations Functions) Levy; and
Marine Safety (Domestic Commercial Vessel) National Law Act 2012 to enable the AMSA to suspend or revoke certificates of survey or detain a domestic commercial vessel in response to non-payment of the domestic commercial vessel levy.
