  Customs Act 1901

  to: provide that the minister will make a decision within 30 days of receiving a report or recommendation on which to make a decision; provide that the minister may consider any impacts on jobs and investment in the domestic industry producing like goods during an investigation to determine whether material injury to an Australian industry is being caused or is threatened; reflect all countervailable subsidies under the World Trade Organization Agreements on Subsidies and Countervailing and on Agriculture; and enable industry associations, unions and downstream industry to participate in anti-dumping and countervailing investigations.

  to enable the Chief Executive Officer to revoke approximately 700 tariff concession orders (TCOs) and to replace them with approximately 1200 new TCOs.

  Implements the Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency adopted by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law by: establishing access to local courts by persons administering a foreign insolvency proceeding; establishing conditions for recognition of a foreign insolvency proceeding and granting relief to its participants; permitting participation by foreign creditors in such proceedings; enabling cooperation between courts and practitioners from different countries; enabling coordination of proceedings to take place concurrently in different countries; and empowering the Governor-General to make regulations under the Act.

  to re-enact counter-terrorism offences as Commonwealth provisions capable of operating throughout Australia, without any constitutional limitations, by virtue of the reference of powers by the States; and

  Security Legislation Amendment (Terrorism) Act 2002

  to add this proposed Act to the list of counter-terrorism legislation that is subject to a public and independent review mechanism. Also contains transitional provisions.
