in relation to: enforcement of court orders; replacement of certain outdated terms (including introduction of the term “divorce”); recovery of child maintenance paid by a person found not to be a parent; operation of appeals; clarification of the rule-making power of the Family Court; and technical amendments; and Bankruptcy Act 1966
to confer on the Family Court of Western Australia the same jurisdiction that is conferred on the Family Court of Australia in relation to concurrent family law proceedings where a party is a bankrupt.

Bills and committees
The House of Representatives Selection Committee and the Senate Selection of Bills Committee routinely consider whether bills should be referred to committees for inquiry and report. The House Committee reports its determinations to the chamber, while the Senate Committee makes recommendations which the Senate may then adopt. Bills may also be referred to committees by either chamber or by the relevant minister to House and joint committees.
