121  Recommittal on report

On the motion for the adoption of the report the bill may, on motion, be recommitted, in whole or in part.

Commentary

Agreed to without debate in 1903 this was the standard method of returning to a bill when doubts remained or second thoughts emerged at the end of the committee stage. As noted in the commentaries under SOs 117, 118 and 120, the Senate had also adopted a mechanism for reconsidering clauses of a bill before it had been reported out of committee of the whole.
