Grants

The Department of the House of Representatives may offer grants in the form of prize money to selected participants in the following events:

The Commonwealth Grants Rules and Guidelines (CGRGs) establishes the overarching Commonwealth grants policy framework and articulated the expectation of all non-corporate Commonwealth entities in relation to grants administration. The CGRGs are supported by the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rules 2014 (PGPA Rules). The Department’s grant administration operates in line with the whole of government grant policy framework applying to grant administration activities.

The department awards grants in line with the Commonwealth Grants Policy Framework.

The Commonwealth Grants Rules and Guidelines require that details of grants be published on the Departments website. The following is a list of grants announced by the Department.

Program Title: Other Departmental DHOR

Program Component: 1.2 Community Relations and Awareness

Purpose: The purpose of My First Speech competition aims to raise awareness of the federal parliament among young Australians by encouraging students to voice their opinions as if they were making their first speech in the House of Representatives.

The competition was open to Year 10 to 12 Australian school students.
