Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons visits parliament

Deputy Speaker of the House of Common the Right Hon Lindsay Hoyle MP, with Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Hon Tony Smith MP.

The Parliament was pleased to receive a visit in early November by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, the Right Honourable Lindsay Hoyle MP.

Deputy Speaker Hoyle visited Canberra in his capacity as Chair of Ways and Means and Chair of the Consultative Panel on Parliamentary Security. Mr Hoyle was accompanied by Miss Helen Wood, Secretary to the Consultative Panel on Parliamentary Security and Clerk of Domestic Committees and Mr Eric Hepburn, Director of Parliamentary Security.

The purpose of the visit was to meet with representatives from the Department of Parliamentary Services and the Australian Federal Police to discuss parliamentary security and parliamentary cyber security, given the recent attacks at / on the UK Parliament.

During the visit to Canberra, Mr Hoyle also met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives
