Inquiry into Water Amendment Bill 2008

Interim Report

Pursuant to Senate Standing Order 38(7), I present to you the interim report of the Senate Standing Committee on Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport on its inquiry into the Water Amendment Bill 2008 (the Bill).

On 15 October 2008, the Senate referred the provisions of the Bill to the committee for inquiry and report by 19 November 2008.

The committee held public hearings in Canberra on Wednesday 12 November and Thursday 13 November 2008. The committee has received seven submissions.

To allow the committee time to finalise its report, the committee has decided it will present its final report on Friday 21 November 2008.
