Civil Aviation Legislation Amendment (Mutual Recognition with New
Zealand) and Other Matters Bill 2003
On 10 March 2004, the Senate referred the provisions of the above bill to
the Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee
for inquiry and report by 17 June 2004.
The bill proposes amendments to the Civil Aviation Act 1988 and has
associated legislation in New Zealand. The legislation aims to put in
place a statutory framework for the mutual recognition of aviation related
safety certificates. At this stage the proposal is for the mutual
recognition of Air Operator's Certificates in relation to large aircraft
(greater than 30 seats or 15,000 kgs).

for the lodgement of submissions is COB, Friday, 30 April 2004.
All
communications with the Committee and its Secretariat are protected by
parliamentary privilege. It is expected that submissions will be
published unless clearly marked as confidential. Persons making
submissions must not disclose them without the prior approval of the
Committee. Submissions are covered by parliamentary privilege but
unauthorised release of submissions is not.
The Committee
encourages the lodgement of submissions in electronic form. E-mailed
submissions must include the author's full name, phone number and postal
address.
