Aviation Transport Security Bill 2003 and the Aviation Transport Security (Consequential Provisions) Bill 2003

On 26 March 2003, the Senate referred the above Bills to the Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by the 16 May 2003. This date has now been extended until 9 September 2003.

The purpose of the Bills is to implement decisions by government in relation to passenger and checked bag screening, and access control and aviation security identification cards--ASIC cards.
