Inquiry into the Privacy Legislation Amendment (Emergencies
and Disasters) Bill 2006
Information about the inquiry
On 14 September 2006 , the Senate referred the above Bill to the Senate Legal and Constitutional
Affairs Committee for inquiry and report by
12 October 2006.
The Bill proposes to,
amongst other things, amend the Privacy Act 1988 to enhance
information exchange between Australian Government agencies, state and
territory authorities, private sector organisations, non-government
organisations and others, in an emergency or disaster situation.
Lodging Submissions
Submissions are called for by 25 September 2006. Submissions become Committee documents and are only made public after a decision by the Committee.
