Inquiry into the Migration Amendment (Maritime Crew) Bill 2007

Information about the inquiry

On 1 March 2007, the Senate referred the above Bill to the Legal and Constitutional Committee for inquiry and report by 20 April 2007.

The Bill amends the Migration Act 1958 to create a new maritime crew visa. The committee will examine issues such as the effect of the bill on international maritime conventions and the security measures it introduces.

Lodging Submissions

Submissions are called for by 23 March 2007. Submissions become Committee documents and are only made public after a decision by the Committee.
