Friday 9 August 2002
To the Secretary, Senate Finance and Public Administration Legislation Committee.
Reference: (Life Gold Pass) Bill 2002.
I wish to object to the perks outlined in this bill and the sneaky way it has been introduced into parliament.
: - There is no clarification as to the type of travel, is it by air train or bus?
: - What class of travel is permitted eg, is it first class, business class, or economy?
: - The reference to frequent flyer is vague and open to abuse.
This bill is based entirely on greed and its passage through parliament should be blocked.
For the tax payer to carry the cost of such greed is unjust and UN Australian.
Our politicians have the most generous retirement superanuation package in the entire world and yet they still want more enough is enough.
The Gold Pass Perks must be stopped. Why should we have to keep a bunch of past prime ministers in this kind of luxury and all the other past ministers and members?
