Inquiry into the Tax Laws Amendment (Political Contributions & Gifts) Bill 2008

Information about the Inquiry

The Senate Standing Committee on Economics is conducting an inquiry into the Tax Laws Amendment (Political Contributions and Gifts) Bill. The Bill amends the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 and the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936 to remove tax deductibility for contributions and gifts to political parties, independent members and independent candidates.

The committee is to report to the Senate by 5 November 2008. Submissions closing date is to be advised and can be emailed to economics.sen@aph.gov.au.
