Is it because you have effectively kept it a secret? How well has it been advertised? In the ethnic media? In the Herald & Weekly Times? Where? When? Sorry but to me the answer is as simple as anything else that the federal government has done in this area. It has acted incredibly biased in every sense of the word, using its control of 50+% of the ownership to ensure that only its mates get onto the Board. There is no interest in any community rep (and yes I am biased because I have tried). They do not even bother to talk with candidates and honestly assess their interest, skills etc. This shows how miserably little the federal government thinks of us. But should our telecommunications carrier be sold off? Are you kidding? IF this government had any substantial and legitimate interest in national security then the question would not even arose. Imagine all the wealth that Al Kaida etc have. If they could buy control over a phone network, controlling national communications AND access to a database surpassed only by the ATO (if by any body) and what do you have? Telstra cannot, must not be sold. But Howard et al will not listen and our nation WILL suffer, in a security sense, in an economic sense, and re service. How pathetic Mr Ange Kenos 6 Coghlan Street Niddrie 3042
