Subject: extremely poor
coverage
I would like to submit my opinion on the state of
broadband in this country. At the moment there is only 2 real options for high
speed broadband at the moment. cable and adsl.
I currently live in the Carrum Downs area, and
are a local call to Melbourne. I have applied for cable connection to my
home, only to be informed it is not available. Alternatively i took the step of
applying for an adsl service and had it rejected due to the fact i am too far
away from the Seaford exchange. I could not believe the fact i live in a heavily
populated suburb of Melbourne only 4kms from the telephone exchange and cannot
get a broadband service.
I was told the only option i had open to me is isdn
or sattelite. Both of those services incur dial up charges and do not free up
your phone line. How can we discuss the poor uptake of broadband services when
they are not available to the majority of loyal customers.
Telstra are making millions of dollars each year,
but are not putting any of their profits back into their network.
Even some people in rural victoria have access to
broadband internet access. Yet here i am in suburbia with absolutely no hope of
upgrading from a prehistoric 56k dial up connection. Please help
