Subject: Mobile Phone Service
To Whom It May Concern
I am alarmed at the Prime Ministers assumption that
Telstra Services are almost up to scratch.
I live just 100ks from Melbourne, Half way between
Ballarat and Daylesford, we have never had a mobile phone service here and our
mobile phones are only used when we are away from home. Service between our home
at Ballarat are intermittent even when we are travelling toward Ballarat
and Telstra readily admit to this.
Recently Telstra opted to remove the nearest Public
Phone which was 6ks from our home and we now have to travel to Creswick 17ks
away to use a Public Phone to report any faults with our home phone. A fairly
frequent occurence in this area.So much for increasing services to Country
people.
Telstra are unconcerned by our plight but quite
happy to increase charges and force us to pay these, we get no financial
consideration for the fact that for the majority of the time our Mobile Phones
are useless to us. Several phone discussions with have only resulted in
indifference.
Options on our Phone Such as Freechat and Flatchat
are unable to be used.
If this is the case so close to Melbourne I fear
greatly for those people that live in remote areas of the country.
