On-line sources can be very effective when accessing: -very up-to-date information e.g statistics, stock market prices, and exchange rates; and -legislation and other government documents. Public libraries do not have shelf space for all of Australia's legislative papers. Knowledge of computers, the internet and its resources is often VERY limited in older people. Greater knowledge and skills in these areas would greatly benefit the public as they would be able to use the internet more confidently, AND library staff who would not have to constantly instruct in basic internet and computer skills.
